Mandarin Minute is a Mandarin Chinese learning app for iOS, available in English and Arabic. It is built to work offline: lessons, vocabulary, audio, quizzes and your progress all live on your device. A few optional features (the Premium AI voice tutor, on-demand pronunciation audio and translations, and the subscription itself) need an internet connection. The app asks for your permission before any of them shares anything with a third-party AI service, and this policy explains exactly what is collected, how it is collected and what each company does with it.
The app keeps the following on your device only (in the app's local storage). It is never uploaded, and deleting the app deletes it:
The first time a network feature is used, the app generates a random identifier (a UUID) and stores it on your device. It is not your name, email, Apple ID, phone number or advertising identifier, and we cannot link it to you. It is sent to our server so we can count the free voice-tutor minutes used each day and remember that a device has an active Premium subscription, and it is passed to ElevenLabs as the participant identifier of a voice-tutor conversation. It is never sent to OpenAI. Deleting the app deletes the identifier.
The AI features are switched off until you allow them. Before your first voice-tutor session — and before the Premium on-demand pronunciation audio and translation features can contact our server for the first time — the app shows you a screen that explains what will be sent, which companies receive it and what they do with it, and asks you to agree. Until you agree, the app sends nothing to ElevenLabs or OpenAI and the AI features do not contact our server.
If you decline, everything that works offline keeps working exactly as before: lessons, vocabulary, the bundled audio, quizzes, writing practice, pronunciation practice, reminders, the widget and your progress. Only the online AI features stay unavailable.
You can change your mind at any time in the app, under Settings → Privacy & AI data → “Share data with AI tutor services”. Turning it off stops the app from contacting these services again, and you will be asked to agree once more the next time you try to use an AI feature. Your choice is stored only on your device and is never sent anywhere.
The voice tutor lets you hold a spoken Mandarin conversation with an AI. It runs only after you have agreed to the permission screen described above and you start a voice session, and it works like this:
Besides your microphone audio, ElevenLabs receives your anonymous device identifier as the participant identifier of the conversation, and your HSK level and interface language as conversation variables, so the tutor speaks at the right level and in the right language. It does not receive your name, email address, Apple ID or any contact details. ElevenLabs processes this data to provide the service, under ElevenLabs' privacy policy (elevenlabs.io/privacy-policy).
We have configured our tutor agents on ElevenLabs to keep as little as possible: no recording of your call audio is stored, and any transcript or audio produced while the conversation runs is scheduled for deletion as soon as the conversation ends (the retention period is set to zero days, and the deletion covers both the transcript and the audio). Nothing is remembered from one conversation to the next.
OpenAI processes the audio and text it receives to provide the service, under OpenAI's API data policies (openai.com/policies). Neither we nor these services use your voice or your conversations to train AI models on our behalf, and we do not sell them or share them with anyone else.
Our server keeps only: a per-day minutes counter for your device identifier (deleted automatically after about 50 hours), the Premium flag for your device identifier (kept until the subscription expires) and the App Store transaction identifier used to activate it (kept for about 30 days beyond that so purchases can be restored). It never stores your audio or your conversation transcripts. Generated pronunciation audio is cached on our server for up to 30 days, keyed by the text only, not by your device.
The microphone is used only while you tap to speak in the voice tutor or in pronunciation practice, and iOS asks for your permission first. Pronunciation practice uses Apple's speech recognition to turn what you say into text so the app can score it against the target word. This runs on your device when your iPhone supports on-device recognition; otherwise, or when a more accurate result is available online, Apple processes the audio on its servers under Apple's privacy policy. We never receive this audio; the scoring happens inside the app. You can withdraw both permissions at any time in Settings → Mandarin Minute.
If you turn on daily reminders, the app schedules notifications locally on your device through iOS. There is no push-notification server, and nothing about your reminders leaves your device. You can turn them off in the app or in iOS Settings.
Premium is an auto-renewing subscription sold through Apple's App Store and billed to your Apple ID. Apple handles payment, renewal, cancellation and refunds under Apple's privacy policy; we never see your card or account details. To unlock Premium, the app sends your device identifier and the App Store transaction identifier for the purchase to our server, which checks it and marks the device as Premium. Manage or cancel at any time in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
The widget shows the day's word. It reads that word from a storage area shared between the app and the widget on your device and never connects to the internet.
Fonts and all learning content are bundled inside the app; no other services are contacted.
Mandarin Minute contains no analytics, advertising or tracking software and does not track you across other apps or websites.
The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The identifier described above is random and cannot identify a person.

Mandarin Minute تطبيق لتعلّم اللغة الصينية (الماندرين) على iOS، متوفّر بالإنجليزية والعربية. صُمّم التطبيق ليعمل دون اتصال بالإنترنت: الدروس والمفردات والصوتيات والاختبارات وتقدّمك كلها محفوظة على جهازك. بعض الميزات الاختيارية فقط (المعلّم الصوتي الذكي في النسخة المميّزة، والنطق والترجمة عند الطلب، والاشتراك نفسه) تحتاج إلى اتصال بالإنترنت. ويطلب التطبيق إذنك قبل أن تشارك أيٌّ منها أي بيانات مع خدمة ذكاء اصطناعي تابعة لطرف ثالث، وتشرح هذه السياسة بدقة ما الذي يُجمع، وكيف يُجمع، وماذا تفعل به كل جهة.
يحتفظ التطبيق بما يلي على جهازك فقط (في التخزين المحلي للتطبيق). لا يُرفع أيٌّ منها إلى أي مكان، وحذف التطبيق يحذفها:

ميزات الذكاء الاصطناعي معطّلة إلى أن تسمح بها. فقبل أول جلسة مع المعلّم الصوتي — وقبل أن تتمكّن ميزتا النطق عند الطلب والترجمة في النسخة المميّزة من الاتصال بخادمنا لأول مرة — يعرض التطبيق شاشة تشرح ما الذي سيُرسل، وإلى أي جهات، وماذا تفعل به، ويطلب منك الموافقة. وقبل موافقتك لا يرسل التطبيق أي شيء إلى ElevenLabs أو OpenAI، ولا تتصل ميزات الذكاء الاصطناعي بخادمنا.
إذا رفضت، يبقى كل ما يعمل دون اتصال كما هو تماماً: الدروس والمفردات والصوتيات المضمّنة والاختبارات وتمارين الكتابة والنطق والتذكيرات وأداة الشاشة الرئيسية وتقدّمك. وتبقى ميزات الذكاء الاصطناعي التي تحتاج إلى الإنترنت وحدها غير متاحة.
ويمكنك تغيير رأيك في أي وقت من داخل التطبيق: الإعدادات ← الخصوصية وبيانات الذكاء الاصطناعي ← «مشاركة البيانات مع خدمات المعلّم الذكي». وإيقاف هذا الخيار يمنع التطبيق من الاتصال بهذه الخدمات مرة أخرى، وسيُطلب منك الموافقة من جديد عند محاولتك استخدام إحدى ميزات الذكاء الاصطناعي لاحقاً. ويُحفظ اختيارك على جهازك فقط ولا يُرسل إلى أي جهة.
يتيح لك المعلّم الصوتي إجراء محادثة منطوقة بالصينية مع ذكاء اصطناعي. ولا يعمل إلا بعد موافقتك على الشاشة الموضّحة أعلاه وعند بدئك جلسة صوتية، وهذه طريقة عمله:
وإلى جانب صوت الميكروفون، تتلقّى ElevenLabs معرّف جهازك المجهول بوصفه معرّف المشارك في المحادثة، ومستوى HSK ولغة الواجهة كمتغيّرات للمحادثة، كي يخاطبك المعلّم بالمستوى المناسب وباللغة المناسبة. ولا تتلقّى اسمك ولا بريدك الإلكتروني ولا Apple ID ولا أي بيانات تواصل. وتعالج ElevenLabs هذه البيانات لتقديم الخدمة وفق سياسة خصوصية ElevenLabs (elevenlabs.io/privacy-policy).
وقد ضبطنا وكلاء المعلّم لدينا في ElevenLabs بحيث يحتفظون بأقل قدر ممكن: لا يُخزَّن أي تسجيل لصوت مكالمتك، وأي نص أو صوت يُنتَج أثناء المحادثة تتم جدولته للحذف فور انتهائها (مدة الاحتفاظ مضبوطة على صفر يوم، ويشمل الحذف النص والصوت معاً). ولا يُحفظ أي شيء من محادثة إلى أخرى.
وتعالج OpenAI ما تتلقّاه من صوت ونص لتقديم الخدمة وفق سياسات بيانات واجهة OpenAI البرمجية (openai.com/policies). ولا نستخدم نحن ولا هذه الخدمات صوتك أو محادثاتك لتدريب نماذج ذكاء اصطناعي نيابةً عنا، ولا نبيعها أو نشاركها مع أي جهة أخرى.
ولا يحتفظ خادمنا إلا بما يلي: عدّاد دقائق يومي مرتبط بمعرّف جهازك (يُحذف تلقائياً بعد نحو 50 ساعة)، وعلامة الاشتراك المميّز لمعرّف جهازك (تبقى حتى انتهاء الاشتراك)، ومعرّف معاملة App Store الذي استُخدم للتفعيل (يبقى نحو 30 يوماً إضافية لتتمكّن من استعادة المشتريات). ولا يخزّن خادمنا صوتك ولا نصوص محادثاتك إطلاقاً. ويُخزَّن الصوت المولَّد للنطق مؤقتاً على خادمنا لمدة تصل إلى 30 يوماً، مرتبطاً بالنص فقط لا بجهازك.
يُستخدم الميكروفون فقط عندما تضغط للتحدّث في المعلّم الصوتي أو في تمرين النطق، ويطلب iOS إذنك أولاً. يستخدم تمرين النطق خدمة التعرّف على الكلام من Apple لتحويل ما تقوله إلى نص كي يقيّمه التطبيق مقارنةً بالكلمة المستهدفة. يعمل ذلك على جهازك عندما يدعم هاتفك التعرّف على الجهاز؛ وفي غير ذلك، أو عندما تتوفّر نتيجة أدق عبر الإنترنت، تعالج Apple الصوت على خوادمها وفق سياسة خصوصية Apple. لا نتلقّى هذا الصوت أبداً، والتقييم يتم داخل التطبيق. يمكنك سحب الإذنين في أي وقت من الإعدادات ← Mandarin Minute.
إذا فعّلت التذكيرات اليومية، يجدول التطبيق الإشعارات محلياً على جهازك عبر iOS. لا يوجد خادم إشعارات، ولا يغادر أي شيء يخصّ تذكيراتك جهازك. يمكنك إيقافها من التطبيق أو من إعدادات iOS.
النسخة المميّزة اشتراك تلقائي التجديد يُباع عبر App Store ويُحاسب عليه من خلال Apple ID. تتولّى Apple الدفع والتجديد والإلغاء والاسترداد وفق سياسة خصوصية Apple؛ ولا نطّلع أبداً على بيانات بطاقتك أو حسابك. لتفعيل النسخة المميّزة، يرسل التطبيق معرّف جهازك ومعرّف معاملة App Store الخاصة بالشراء إلى خادمنا الذي يتحقّق منها ويضع علامة الاشتراك المميّز للجهاز. يمكنك الإدارة أو الإلغاء في أي وقت من الإعدادات ← Apple ID ← الاشتراكات.
تعرض الأداة كلمة اليوم. تقرأ هذه الكلمة من مساحة تخزين مشتركة بين التطبيق والأداة على جهازك، ولا تتصل بالإنترنت أبداً.
الخطوط وكل المحتوى التعليمي مضمّنة داخل التطبيق؛ ولا يتم الاتصال بأي خدمات أخرى.
لا يحتوي Mandarin Minute على أي أدوات تحليلات أو إعلانات أو تتبّع، ولا يتتبّعك عبر تطبيقات أو مواقع أخرى.
لا يجمع التطبيق عن قصد أي معلومات شخصية من أي شخص، بمن فيهم الأطفال دون 13 عاماً. المعرّف المذكور أعلاه عشوائي ولا يمكنه تحديد هوية أي شخص.
